CEV Champions League-sesonger for kvinner

Den CEV Champions League var det høyeste nivået på europeisk klubb volleyball i 2017-18 sesongen og den 58. utgaven. Den tyrkiske klubben VakıfBank Istanbul vant sin fjerde sammenlagt og andre tittel på rad. Den rumenske klubben CSM Volei Alba Blaj vant sølvmedaljen og italienske Imoco Volley Conegliano hevdet bronsemedaljen. Den tyrkiske Gözde Kırdar Sonsırma fra VakıfBank Istanbul, som trekker seg, ble tildelt mest verdifulle spiller.

Kvalifikasjon

Hovedartikkel: 2017–18 CEV Women's Champions League-kvalifisering

Totalt 16 lag deltar i hovedkonkurransen, hvor 12 lag får direkte ledige stillinger på grunnlag av rangliste for europacupkonkurranser og 4 lag kvalifiserte seg fra kvalifiseringsrundene. Loddtrekning ble avholdt i Moskva , Russland 17. november 2017.

Format

Serierunde

Et round-robin-format (hvert lag spiller hvert andre lag i bassenget sitt to ganger, en gang hjemme og en gang borte) hvor de 16 deltakende lagene trekkes inn i 4 puljer med 4 lag hver.
De fire puljevinnerne og de to beste andreplasserte lagene blant alle puljer kvalifiserer seg til sluttspill .
Arrangøren av Final Four er bestemt ved avslutningen av League Round og kvalifiserer seg direkte til Final Four.

De plasseringer bestemmes av antall kamper vunnet. I tilfelle uavgjort i antall kamper vunnet av to eller flere lag, er rangeringen basert på følgende kriterier:

  • resultatpoeng (poeng tildelt for resultater: 3 poeng for 3–0 eller 3–1 seire, 2 poeng for 3–2 seier, 1 poeng for 2–3 tap);
  • sett kvotient (antall totalt sett sett delt på antall tapte sett);
  • poengkvotient (antall totale poeng delt på antall tapte poeng);
  • resultater av head-to-head kamper mellom de aktuelle lagene.
Sluttspill

Et knockout-format der de 6 kvalifiserte lagene trekkes inn i en av de tre kampene med hver kamp bestående av to ben (hjemme og borte).
Resultatpoeng tildeles for hver etappe (3 poeng for 3–0 eller 3–1 seire, 2 poeng for 3–2 seier, 1 poeng for 2–3 tap). Etter to bein går laget med flest poeng videre til Final Four . I tilfelle lagene er bundet etter to etapper, spilles et gyldent sett umiddelbart når andre etappe er fullført. Golden Set-vinneren er laget som først oppnår 15 poeng, forutsatt at poengforskjellen mellom de to lagene er minst 2 poeng (dermed tilsvarer Golden Set et tiebreak-sett i en vanlig kamp).

Final Four

Et enkelt eliminasjonsformat der de tre vinnerne av sluttspillet får selskap av Final Four-vertene og trekker for å spille semifinalen (vinnerne går videre til finalen og taper til 3. plass-kampen). I tilfelle to lag fra samme land kvalifiserer seg til semifinalen, vil de spille mot hverandre.

6. mai 2018, i det siste spillet av Champions League 2018, oppnådde VakıfBank Istanbul rekorden med den beste poengsummen i en volleyball-europacupfinale siden Rally Point System ble vedtatt, med bare 45 poeng tapt. Derfor har CSM Volei Alba Blaj rekorden for den dårligste poengsummen.
