De Queensland Litterære Awards er en awards program etablert i 2012 av Queensland litterære samfunnet, finansiert av sponsorer og administreres av State Library of Queensland . I likhet med de tidligere Queensland Premier's Literary Awards , feirer og fremmer QLA -en enestående australsk forfatterskap. Prisene tar sikte på å oppsøke, gjenkjenne og pleie stort talent i australsk forfatterskap. De trekker nasjonal og internasjonal oppmerksomhet til noen av våre beste forfattere og til Queenslands anerkjennelse av fremragende australsk litteratur og forlag.
Disse prisene har fokus på å støtte ny forfatterskap gjennom Emerging Queensland Writer - Manuscript Award og Upubliserte urfolksforfatter - David Unaipon Award. "De gir lokale forfattere og nye forfattere noe å strebe etter."
Historie
Queensland Literary Awards ble opprettet av en ideell sammenslutning av lidenskapelige Queensland-frivillige og talsmenn for litteratur, som svar på at Queensland Premier Campbell Newman avviklet Queensland Premier's Literary Awards i 2012.
I 2012 og 2013 ble programmet drevet av en frivillig arbeidsstyrke. Etter samråd med QLA Inc.s styrekomité, ble det i 2014 ledelse av QLA -overgangen til State Library of Queensland (SLQ). Mens SLQ tok på seg en lederrolle i å levere programmet, var målet å fortsette å bygge videre på den eksisterende samarbeidsmodellen der fellesskapet og partnerne i den skriftlige sektoren er viktige interessenter.
De opprinnelige Premier -prisene ble etablert av Peter Beattie , daværende premier i Queensland i 1998 og ble først delt ut i 1999.
