Sylvia Lavin er professor i historie og teori om arkitektur ved Princeton University, School of Architecture . Hun var tidligere sjef for Ph.D. i arkitekturprogram fra 2007-2017 og professor i arkitektonisk historie og teori ved UCLA , hvor hun var leder av avdelingen for arkitektur og bydesign fra 1996 til 2006.
