Wolfson History Prize - Wolfson History Prize
De Wolfson History Premiene er litterære utmerkelser gitt årlig i Storbritannia for å fremme og oppmuntre standarder for kvalitet i skrivingen av historien for allmennheten. Det deles ut priser årlig for to eller tre eksepsjonelle verk publisert i løpet av året, med en og annen oeuvrepris (en generell utmerkelse for en persons fremtredende bidrag til historiskrivning). De tildeles og administreres av Wolfson Foundation , med vinnende bøker valgt av et panel av dommere sammensatt av fremstående historikere.
For å kvalifisere for behandling må en bok være utgitt i Storbritannia, og forfatteren må være et britisk emne på tidspunktet for tildelingen og normalt bosatt i Storbritannia. Bøker skal være lesbare og vitenskapelige og være tilgjengelige for lekemannen. Premier deles ut sommeren etter året for utgivelsen av bøkene; frem til 1987 ble det imidlertid delt ut priser ved slutten av konkurranseåret.
De ble opprettet i 1972 av Wolfson Foundation, en veldedig stiftelse i Storbritannia , og ble opprinnelig kjent som Wolfson Literary Awards .
