Biskop Adna Wright Leonard I (2. november 1874 - 3. mai 1943) var en metodistbiskop i Buffalo, New York og den første formannen for Methodist Commission on Chaplains . Han ble drept i 1943 i en flyulykke på vei til Island for å besøke metodistprestene og deres tropper.
Biografi
Han ble født i Cincinnati, Ohio , 2. november 1874, til Adna Bradway Leonard (1837-1916) og Caroline (Kaiser) Leonard (1840-1899). Han ble valgt til biskop i 1916.
Han giftet seg med Mary Luella Day (1873-1956) 9. oktober 1901, og fikk følgende barn: Adna Wright Leonard II (1904-1986); og Phyllis Day (Leonard) Budd (1907-2002).
Han ble valgt til Episcopacy of the Methodist Episcopal Church på generalkonferansen i 1916. Han tjenestegjorde i San Francisco , Pittsburgh og Washington, DC
Han ble drept 3. mai 1943 i en flyulykke på vei til Island for å besøke metodistprestene og deres tropper. Tretten andre mennesker ble drept i flyulykken, inkludert major Teodore C. Totman fra Jamestown, New York og generalløytnant Frank Maxwell Andrews .
