Gary Presland - Gary Presland
Gary Presland er en australsk arkeolog og forfatter som studerte historie ved La Trobe University 1973-76, og arkeologi ved University of London , 1977-79. Han var ansatt i Victoria Archaeological Survey fra 1983 til april 1988; hans forskningsinteresser ligger i Aboriginal og Natural History of Melbourne. Et viktig bidrag var transkripsjon og redigering av upubliserte tidsskrifter til George Augustus Robinson , hovedbeskytter av aboriginene i Port Phillip District, 1839-1849. Han ble tildelt graden doktor i filosofi ved University of Melbourne i 2005, for sin rekonstruksjon av den før-europeiske naturhistorien til Melbourne.
Presland var Thomas Ramsay Science and Humanities Fellow ved Museum Victoria i 2001. Presland har vært involvert i det arkeologiske og antropologiske foreningen i Victoria siden 1972, og fungerte som president 1984/85 og som redaktør for foreningens tidsskrift The Artefact . Presland er stipendiat fra Royal Historical Society of Victoria , og har vært redaktør for The Victorian Naturalist , tidsskriftet Field Naturalists Club of Victoria , siden 2003. Hans nylige forskning har fokusert på den tidlige historien til Melbourne . Han er for tiden president for Box Hill Historical Society.
