The International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers 'Associations ( IUF ) er en global fagforening av fagforeninger med medlemmer i en rekke bransjer, hvorav mange er knyttet til matforedling.
Historie
Forbundet ble stiftet i 1920 med sammenslåingen av International Federation of Bakers, Pastry Cooks and Allied Workers 'Associations , International Federation of Meat Workers og International Federation of Brewery Workers . Opprinnelig kalt International Union of Food and Allied Workers 'Associations (IUFAWA), og dets tilknyttede selskaper var alle europeiske til 1950, men den ekspanderte deretter raskt over hele verden.
I 1958 fusjonerte International Federation of Tobacco Workers til føderasjonen, som omdøpte seg til International Union of Food, Drinks and Tobacco Workers 'Associations , deretter i 1961 fusjonerte International Union of Hotel, Restaurant and Bar Workers , og føderasjonen ble International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Tobacco and Allied Workers 'Associations (IUF). I 1978 hadde forbundets tilknyttede selskaper totalt 2,1 millioner medlemmer.
I løpet av 1980-årene aksjonerte IUF mot Coca-Cola etter attentatet mot fagforeningsledere i Guatemala. I 1988 var IUF den første internasjonale fagforeningen som signerte en global rammeavtale med den franske matmultinasjonale BSN ( Danone ). I 1994 fusjonerte International Federation of Plantation, Agricultural and Allied Workers til IUF, som tok sitt nåværende navn. I 2006 sluttet de fleste av de tidligere tilknyttede selskapene til World Federation of Agriculture and Food Workers seg til føderasjonen.
Gjeldende virksomhet
I 2019 var IUF sammensatt av 422 medlemsorganisasjoner i 127 land, som representerer mer enn 10 millioner arbeidere.
Organisasjonen representerer arbeidere ansatt i landbruket, tilberedning og produksjon av mat og drikke, hoteller, restauranter og cateringtjenester og i tobakkforedling.
Det internasjonale hovedkvarteret til IUF ligger i Genève , Sveits . Innenfor organisasjonen er det autonome regionale organisasjoner for Afrika, Asia/Stillehavet, Karibia, Europa og Latin -Amerika.
