Peter Preston Brooks (født 1938) er Sterling professor emeritus i komparativ litteratur ved Yale University og Andrew W. Mellon Scholar ved institutt for komparativ litteratur og Center for Human Values ved Princeton University . Han har vært professor ved Institutt for engelsk og juridisk skole ved University of Virginia . Blant hans mange prestasjoner er grunnleggelsen av Whitney Humanities Center ved Yale University. Han ble valgt inn i American Philosophical Society i 2003. Brooks er en tverrfaglig forsker som arbeider på tvers av fransk og engelsk litteratur, jus og psykoanalyse. Han ble påvirket av andre Yale -lærde, Paul de Man , som boken Reading for the Plot er dedikert til.
utdanning
Brooks oppnådde sin BA (1959) og Ph.D. (1965) fra Harvard University . Han studerte også ved University College, London som Marshall Scholar , og ved University of Paris .
Personlige liv
Brooks har fire barn. 18. juli 1959 giftet Brooks seg med Margaret Elisabeth Waters. Mai 2001 giftet Brooks seg med jusprofessoren, forfatteren og kommentatoren, Rosa Brooks . Rosa Brooks giftet seg på nytt.
