Stephen John Hunt er en britisk professor i sosiologi ved University of the West of England . Før han ble ansatt ved University of West England i 2001, hadde Hunt undervist på sosiologiavdelingen ved University of Reading i tretten år, samt i religionsvitenskapelig avdeling ved University of Surrey , Roehampton .

Hunts primære forskningsinteresser inkluderer den karismatiske bevegelsen , de "nye" svarte pinsemenighetene og den "homofile debatten" i de kristne kirker.

Han er forfatteren av Alternative Religions: A Sociolog Introduction , (2003). Han er også forfatteren av The Life Course: A Sociolog Introduction , (2005) Religion in Western Society , (2002) og The Alpha Enterprise , (2004). Han redigerte også verket: Christian Millenarianism: From the Early Church to Waco .
