Galen A. Johnson (født 1948) er professor i filosofi ved University of Rhode Island og generalsekretær for International Merleau-Ponty Circle.
Utdanning og bakgrunn
Johnson fikk sin doktorgrad. i filosofi fra Boston University i 1977. Han har undervist ved University of Rhode Island siden 1976. Hans forskningsinteresser inkluderer fenomenologi , estetikk , amerikansk filosofi og nylig fransk filosofi . Han er forfatter til en rekke artikler om samtids kontinental filosofi og har hatt stipend fra National Endowment for Humanities , American Council for Learned Societies og American Philosophical Society . Han har gitt ut fire bøker som omhandler estetikk. Johnson samlet over URI senter for humaniora fra 1994-1996, og var direktør for senteret fra 2007-2013.
