Marvin Louis Stamm (født 23 mai 1939) er en amerikansk jazz trompetist.

Karriere

Han ble født i Memphis, Tennessee , USA. Stamm begynte på trompet i en alder av tolv. Han gikk på Memphis State University og deretter North Texas State University , hvor han var medlem av One O'Clock Lab Band . Han var medlem av Stan Kentons Mellophonium Orchestra fra 1961 til 1963, og jobbet deretter med Woody Herman fra 1965 til 1966. Etter dette var han i The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra fra 1966 til 1972 og med Benny Goodman fra 1974 til 1975 .

På 1970-tallet begynte han en tiår lang karriere som en produktiv studio- og sesjonsmusiker . I studio har han spilt inn med Paul McCartney , Average White Band , Bill Evans , Quincy Jones , Donald Fagen , Oliver Nelson , Duke Pearson , Wes Montgomery , Freddie Hubbard , Stanley Turrentine , Grover Washington, Jr. , Patrick Williams , Michel Legrand , Lena Horne , Frank Foster , Paul Desmond , Frankie Valli , Deodato , Les DeMerle og George Benson . Han spilte flugelhorn -solo på " Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey " av Paul McCartney .

På 1980 -tallet spilte han med John Lewis 's American Jazz Orchestra , Bob Mintzer Band, George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band (1987), Louie Bellsons Big Band og bandet til komponisten Maria Schneider . Han har vært medlem av Westchester Jazz Orchestra siden 2002.
